Santorini’s earthquake scare was a wake-up call serving as a reminder to all travelers the Mediterranean is teeming with truly astounding hidden gems.
You don’t have to follow the crowd before you and visit iconic postcard destinations with touristy prices and dwindling authenticity.

There’s far more to be discovered, whether it’s the pristine seaside villages of Montenegro, the secret islands of Turkiye, or one of the trendiest countries in Europe — Albania.
If you’ve done a deep dive where to vacation in Albania, it’s likely Durres, Vlore, and Ksamil (the ‘Maldives’ of Albania) top your list, but there’s another gorgeous beach hideaway lined with insanely affordable beachfront hotels largely undiscovered by mainstream travelers.
Welcome To Borsh: The Mediterranean’s Unmarred Paradise
As you and your wallet surely know, the more popular any destination becomes, the more dents it makes on your bank account hence locals are up in arms across the globe when digital nomads make camp in their beloved hometowns.

No worries, though. That’s not the case at all in Borsh or the surrounding region. Here, you’ll find long stretches of golden coasts, secluded from the hustle and bustle of any major cities yet not far-flung enough to be a boring, nothing-to-do vacation.
In fact, Borsh Beach is the longest beach in the Albanian Riviera, providing plenty of elbow room to starfish on the beach, relax in a shaded lounge chair, or take part in numerous activities such as snorkeling the translucent Ionian Sea.
One recent beachgoer said, Borsh is the ‘most beautiful and not overcrowded beach in Albanian Riviera’.

While it’s certainly true that Borsh is a textbook “hidden gem”, locals do flock here in the summer, making spring the perfect time to enjoy even more space to enjoy the town’s unspoiled beauty both along the coast and inland for even more surprising delights.
April sees highs of 72 degrees, followed by 79-degree highs in May, before dipping well into the 80s and 90s in summer, drawing local sun-seekers.
Castles, Caves & Waterfalls: Borsh’s Surprising Attractions
Borsch is an ancient town with certain sites standing the test of time. One of which is Sopoti Castle, dating back to the 4th Century BC.

The trek is well worth it as not only is the castle itself something to relish, but the elevated views of Albania’s longest stretch of coastline are a sight to behold.
You’ll also want to check out the Porto Palermo fortress, but it’s outside Borsh roughly 45 minutes away. The good news is there’s an easy Riviera Tour bus that stops here, among other gems like Qeparo and Vuno.
This region isn’t just a beach destination as you can see; there’s fascinating history and natural wonders to explore too.
Borsh Waterfall is a must, especially since it flows beneath a scenic restaurant, so you can kill two birds with one stone (not literally, of course).

For those with a deeper sense of adventure, however, Pëllumbas is a secret cave outside of town known for its internal waterfalls and otherworldly formations.
Book a combo tour of Pëllumbas and yet another historic castle here.
Borsh’s Insanely Low Prices: Beachfront Stays For $30!
No matter your budget, there’s no question Borsh is as affordable as they come. Whether it be munching away at fresh olives at a breezy restaurant patio, pouring glasses of local wine, and yes, scoring prime real estate along the vibrant blue waters.

Borsh’s hotels are do-a-double-take cheap. Finding a hotel in the States for $30 will likely have you calling your doctor for bedbug relief, but in Borsh you can expect comfortable accommodations, a pleasant stay with stunning views, a surprisingly luxurious experience mere steps from the beach.
Remember what I said about springtime being one of the best seasons to visit? Prices go up in the summer.
For April and May, vacationers can find rates in the $30s and $40s at the following Borsh hotels:
- Hotel Angjelo
- Emily Boutique Hotel
- Vila Ari
- Hotel Riviera Borsh
